Frequently Asked Questions

PHYSIOTHERAPY

Q: Do I need to see a doctor before coming to a physio

A: No, physiotherapists in NZ are primary providers, which means you DO NOT need a GP referral to be able to see us!

Q: What about registering my injury with ACC:

A: MOVEMENT&co. can do all of that for you. The only part we can't do, is provide you with a medical certificate if your injury is preventing you from being able to work.

Q: My injury is registered with ACC, do I still need to pay?

A: ACC covers part of the cost of your physiotherapy treatment, but there is still a co-payment that you are expected to pay on the day of your appointment. We also have additional charges for the use of consumables e.g. strapping tape, theraband and compression bandages

PILATES

Q: What is Pilates?

A: Pilates is a form of exercise that consists of low impact flexibility, muscular strength and endurance movements. Pilates at MOVEMENT&co. is primarily mat based classes which incorporate full body exercises and focus on using the breath to control your movements and strengthen your muscles. MOVEMENT&co. also utilizes the Pilates reformer during 1:1 sessions.

Q: How does Pilates differ from yoga?

A: While both forms of exercise are great for your body and incorporate various mat based exercises, Pilates has a focus on improving core strength and can use various pieces of equipment including resistance bands and soft balls to help build overall strength, whereas yoga focuses primarily on flexibility

Q: I have never done Pilates, how do I start?

A: At MOVEMENT&co. we recommend starting with 1-2 privates Pilates sessions. These are aimed at introducing you to the 5 key elements which are carried through all of our classes, and introducing you to some basic exercises and focus on how to activate your core muscles properly.

Q: I am pregnant, can I do Pilates at MOVEMENT&co.

A: Hannah has recently completed her Ante and Post natal Pilates training and will be offering Pilates for this population very soon, so stay tuned!

Q: I have an injury, can Pilates help me?

A; YES! Pilates is a great way to help you recover from your injury, give us a call or send an email to discuss this further.

A: ANYONE can benefit from Personal Training!

Q: Can you help me lose weight?

A: Personal training will definitely help you become more active, which is only one step on a weight loss journey. We can point you in the direction of others who can help you out too e.g. nutritionists.

Q: I want to run a marathon, can you help me with this?

A: Yes! Personal training is a great way to make sure you are doing the correct training, and aren't heading towards giving yourself an injury. We can also help with training plans and running assessments.

Q; I go to a different gym, can I still do personal training at MOVEMENT&co.?

A: Yes! We can make sure your personal training sessions work alongside your gym program, or we can give you a program to do at any of the local gyms in Taupo.
